The Digi Show | Digital Scrapbook Resources

One of my “unfavorite” parts of digital scrapbooking is missing out on getting together with friends to scrap…visiting about our favorite hobby.  Fortunately there are podcasts to fill that void.  My favorite is The Digi Show.  Nearly every week Steph, Katie, Peppermint and a guest or two talk about an aspect of digi-scrapping for at least an hour.  I LOVE turning it on and scrapping.  You can find the podcast episodes on The Digi Show’s website, but I prefer to listen to them in iTunes.

DigiShowConnectAnimate

I’ve had the privilege of meeting these three delightful ladies in person.  And i’ve been lucky enough to be a guest on The Digi Show.  Check out the podcast.  You’ll soon be talking about your new BFF’s Steph, Katie, & Peppermint.

Valentine’s Day Layouts | Digital Scrapbooking Resources

Valentine’s Day! Love, Hearts & Candy. Since this post is about resources, I found some I thought I’d share with you. They are about Valentine’s Day Writing and Journaling Prompts

  • Complete this sentence: “I know ________ loves me because ….”
  • Make a list of ways that you can show your love for your family members.
  • Make a list of people who love you and give at least one reason why you know they love you.
  • Write a letter to your Mom or Dad telling them why you love them.
  • Describe a time when you felt especially loved.
  • Write an acrostic poem using the word “FRIEND.” (I had to look up “Acrostic” to see what it meant.)
  • Think of one reason you like each person in your family. Use your reasons to write Valentine’s cards to your family members.
  • Write a poem entitled “Love is …”

Valentine’s Day Story Starters:

  • Jake couldn’t wait to get to school. Today was the day of the class Valentine’s Day party.
  • When I looked up and saw Cupid with his bow, I knew we were in trouble. …
  • Mi-Lin woke up itchy. Seeing tiny red spots all over her arms, she groaned. What could be worse than chickenpox on the day of the school Valentine’s festival?
  • Tommy Terrence thought Valentine’s Day was for babies. But one special Valentine’s Day made him change his mind.
  • Clarence the Candymaker rubbed his hands gleefully. Today, he would introduce the world to a whole new kind of Valentine’s Day candy.
  • Jessica couldn’t believe her eyes. Stuffed into her mailbox was the biggest Valentine she had ever seen. …

Here are some ideas of my own:

  • One of my nieces made a shadow box. She used a title of “I love Gordon because….” and then a heart shape frame was filled with little strips of paper saying the reasons she loves her hubby. They strips are all in different colors & jumbled about within the heart frame. What a beautiful expression of love. Make a digital scrapbooking heart and layer on your reasons.
  • If you are a single person, Valentine’s Day can get a little touchy. Why not create a mini album using the Title, “I Love………” Then use a favorite activity or sport as what you love. I love skating. I love the Utah Jazz. You get the idea. Being single just gives you more leeway in what you love.
We challenged our Creative Team so make us some wonderful layouts and they ventured out on their own and gave us some hybrid designs too. Let me share them with you. I’ve also linked you up to the products they used.
  • Crystal (krstylbear) starts us off with Love Grows. She created a lunch box note card. Her used of the baker’s twine and the brown paper envelope really ties it all together. The heart ribbon and stitching gives it a sweet nostalgic feel. How could a son not know his mother loves him! She used Love Grows, Rub-Ons & Bonus Papers.

Crystal (krystlbear)

  • Kassie (kass_23) I adore this LO. Using Chelle’s Techno Love kit, Kassie emphasizes the love shared between she and her husband. Clearly defined papers really flow together nicely and the the clustering emphasizes their love and how crazy they are for each other. Isn’t the graph paper with the tiny tossed hearts the cutest ever?

Kassie (kass_23)

  • Jenn J (jmljensen) Added some love to her layout by adding some flowers, greenery, & different pieces of paper to surround her son with love. Look how well the shades of blue tie it all together. Of course, he would be her valentine! She used Love Grows kit.

Jennifer #2 (jmljensen)

  • Last up, Sheila (Nonna@Dreja) used Letters From Home to share a beautiful poem. The banner, stamps, & buttons surround the poem with the vintage doily and kraft envelope make it even lovlier.  This layout transcends time, it could be used now or it might have been used by your Grandfather and given to your Grandmother.

Sheila (Nonna2Dreja)

  • Here’s another hybrid idea. Jenn (jmljensen) used Techno Love to create these darling fortune cookies. Oooh I can just imaging the fortune strips and the excitement from a spouse or children/grandchildren would have guessing what their fortune might be. Jenn made these using the Techno Love kit.

SAMSUNG

  • Kayla (keepscrappin) used some sepia or tonal colors to emphasize her “He Loves Me” layout. What a great guy, he gave her chocolate covered strawberries! The bright colors on the side and her creative use of the clustering with the string really makes the reds and browns grab your attention. She used Chelle’s Chocolate Lovers kit.

Kayla (keepscrappin)

I know I feel inspired to scrap and I hope you have some great ideas. So scrap them now and add them to the gallery. I’m excited to see what you create. Hugs!

Hey everyone! It’s Thursday and I’ve got some great resources for you about recoloring. Chelle has done some marvelous Digital Scrapbooking Tutorials that you can view on her Chelle’s Creations You Tube Channel. See below for links to the recoloring videos.

Jan (quiltymom) recolored the red paper on the left to match the red in the mountains and the green ribbon under the top flower to match the long one on the border. She used Chelle’s Great Outdoors Bundle, Gone Fishing, On the Trail, Let’s Camp S’more, & Forest Friends.

Jan (quiltymom)

Kayla used Gymnastics, Chalked Boards, Love Grows, and recolored the paperclip/washi tape and chevron flag from About a Boy. I used the Color Replacement Brush You Tube tutorial to recolor my items.Kayla (keepscrapping)

Something To Jot About | Digital Scrapbooking Resources

Happy New Year!

What do you to kick start your digital scrapbooking journaling? Kristin Ruttan from Log Your Memory has some great prompts in her FREE Journaling Toolbox. Every week she posts a handful of prompts on a specific topic.  She has TONS of topics (52 each year).  You can jot a few notes about the topics as they come up (and refer to them later when you are scrapping) or if you need some ideas mid-scrapping, scroll through her lists to find a topic that fits.  I’m sure you’ll find one in her vast list…here’s  a sample:  Halloween * Communication * Christmas * Daily Habits * Daylight Savings * Holiday Traditions * Entertaining * Holiday Traditions * Thanksgiving * Veteran’s Day * Illness * Books * Football * Seasons * Work * Personal Organization * Politics * Summer Olympics * Back 2 School * County Fair * Outdoors * Pet Peeves * Relaxation

I chose to think about daily habits with it being the 2013 & the new year. Here are some questions that Kristin suggested:

  1. • What are some of your daily habits … the things you do every day, same time, same way… often without thought?
  2. • Have you ever tried to intentionally create a habit? What was your approach? Were you successful?
  3. • What habits do you wish you could end?
  4. • What habits would you like to develop?
  5. • Which do you prefer… routine or a less predictable day?
  6. • What is your most recent habit? What habit have you had for the longest?
  7. • Have you kicked a habit? What was it and how did you do it?
  8. • Have you ever stopped in the middle of operating by habit and wondered what you were doing?
  9. • Is daily journaling one of your habits? Would you like it to become one?
  10. • What advice can you give others regarding creating or kicking a habit?

Here’s one I thought of. My niece, Alyson, turned 14 this year and one of her goals in her young woman’s group is to visit 14 temples (from our church) this year. My sister could take a picture at each temple, but jot down something about the journey, places they stopped along the way, what food they ate, how many miles from their home to the temple. I’m sure you can come up with other ideas.

Year In Review | Digital Scrapbooking Resources

Hello Ladies! It’s that time of year when the news is filled with “2012 in review” lists. What were your top 10 stories of 2012? Are you digital scrapbooking them? Here’s a few resources for Year in Review layouts & albums:

  • Steph’s (Daily Digi) instructions for how she creates an entire year in review album. How fun would it be to be able to go back and look at this quick summary of the year…5 years down the road…or 15. I’d LOVE this!
  • Katie (Daily Digi) does her year in review a month at a time. Perhaps a new goal for 2013 would be to keep track this time so you’d HAVE that year in review album at the end of the year. Her questions might also help trigger a memory to include.
  • Christine (Listgirl) does a year in review blog post. She looks through her photos for the year and jots down the “facts”. What a fun way to spend the afternoon!

If you want to put your entire year in review on one layout (or one 2-page layout spread) here’s some templates that would work GREAT! Remember photo spots can hold photos OR papers. Click on the image for the link to the market.

Holiday Questions | Digital Scrapbooking Resources

Hello Everyone! Today for Words on Wednesday I wanted to give you some lists of questions you can ask family members about. They can be questions for kids or questions for older folks, really anyone you want to ask about an event in their life. Once you have the information, you can scrap about it. Maybe make it an annual tradition. Grandma’s and Grandpa’s often remember stories that they might have forgotten for different decades of their lives.

Here’s an idea by cherish|BOUND. Start by paying tribute. Honor the oldest member of the family by having each person go around the table and share memories. Start the conversation with questions like, “Tell about a time they made you laugh,” “What is a lesson you have learned from __________,” or “Describe something you think __________ is good at.”

A few other questions came to mind that are for the younger family members. These relate to Christmas/Santa, but you’ll see below the Creative Team went in other directions. Make the questions fit your needs.

  • ? How old do you think Santa is?
  • ? How many elves does Santa have?
  • ? How many reindeer does Santa have in training?
  • ? What is your favorite Christmas color?
  • ? Do you like real trees or fake trees?
  • ? Should Santa wrap the presents he leaves under the tree?
  • ? Do you think twinkling lights are better than solid lights?
  • ? What is your favorite Christmas song?
  • ? Do you like Christmas carols?
  • ? How does Santa fit down a chimney?
  • ? Who is your favorite reindeer after Rudolph

Here are the ideas from the Creative Team.

Erica (stanworth) used Taste of Home, Dandy Alpha and Love My Fans Alpha by Chelle’s Creations.

Erica’s questions: (1) Describe something you are really good at? (2) What are you most thankful for right now? Why? What makes it important to you? (3) What is a lesson you learned this year? (4) Tell me about a time that you really laughed hard?

Jenn Schultz (jennschultz) used We Wish You A Merry Christmas Bundle.

Jenn’s Questions: (1) What is your favorite Christmas memory? (2) If you could go back in time and change one thing, what would it be and why? (3) What is the first work that comes to mind when you think Christmas? (4) What is the greatest gift you have to offer someone? (5) Who is your role model and why do you admire them? (6) What do you love most about the person sitting next to you?

Kassie had a list of questions she asked her kids and then scrapped the list next to a large photo. ?’s like favorite TV show, restaurant, food, color, etc.

I was standing in the pharmacy just today and noticed a box about the size of matches. Inside were questions you could ask little girl’s at a sleepover, or questions you can ask on a road trip. Just start asking some questions and before you know it, you’ll have a page ready to scrap.
