Interviews | Digital Scrapbooking Words on Wednesday

Hello Friends!

Lovin’ the interview concept for your digital scrapbooking. You never know what answers you will get. I was thinking about interviews I’d done with my Parents/Grandparents. Grandma Pitcher said, “…if I’m not there on Judgment Day, you’ll know I went the other way.” When she transplanted flowers she would say to the plant, “live or die, it’s up to you.” My father would say, “if you are ready to go, you’re ready to stay home.” Dad would get peeps attention as they were driving by and stop them, then he’s say to them, “do you know your back tires are going forward?” Come up with questions that will give you these treasured moments.

Some funny statements, some are profound, just sit down a child, or have a visit with Grandma or Grandpa. You can shift these lists below to fit your needs. Here are some ideas.

Kid Interviews:
1. What is your happiest memory?
2. Why do you like being a kid?
3. One word to describe you would be _______.
4. What advice would you give your parents?
5. If you could be any animal, which one would you be and why?
6. What do you like to do for fun?
7. Tell about a funny time in your life.
8. What is your favorite thing to do? Why?
9. What is your favorite thing to do with your friends?
10. What do you love most about your sibling?
11. What was the nicest thing you did for someone?

13. What is your favorite thing to do in the summer?
14. What would be the ideal allowance? Tell me how you would use it.
15. What do you think makes a person good-looking?
16. Name two things we should do as a family on the weekend.
17. What is the grossest thing you can think of?

All about My Grandma

Using #’s | Digital Scrapbooking Words on Wednesday

Hello Friends!

One digital scrapbooking layout style that I really like is to include a #. You can use them in a list, as a large element on a page, perhaps create a book using just the # representing the month of that year. Like this one below.

cc_2012yearinreview

Here are some ideas you could use #’s with for a layout. I’m sure you can think of others.

  • the year ice cream was invented
  • # of flavors of ice cream that your favorite ice cream shoppe carries
  • the age of a birthday person
  • the # of a combo meal at a drive-thru restaurant
  • road signs
  • the # of “sparklers” that your children get to use
  • # of hotdogs or hamburgers eaten at a family party
  • the # of times your road a log-flume ride

Here are a couple of ideas from our creative team. First Helen used #’s to celebrate her vacation in Florida. You might use this idea as a way to do any family vacations over the years. It would be a fun way to use #’s in a then & now layout.

Helen

Great minds think alike. Mel N. also used #’s in a list-form also. I bet you stop to look at the layout and view her different lists. I know I did.  It’s a great way to share your vacations with others.

Mel N

Look how Heather used a large # for her layout.

Here’s another idea from Chelle. Check out the use of # used as a time-stamp.

Title & Subtitle | Digital Scrapbooking Words On Wednesday

Hello Everyone!

Where do you sit on Titles & Subtitles? We seem to either love them or hate them. One fun way to change things up is to separate your title into a title & a subtitle. Chelle does this all the time with her digital scrapbooking word arts. One or two words are large & made with an alpha, the rest are done with a font. {For more information, click on the images.) Whatever you choose to do, word art titles really add color and fun to any LO.

cc_zoocrew_safari_wa     cc_holeinone_wa.jpg     cc_luckyme_wa

Things My Mother Taught Me | Digital Scrapbooking Words on Wednesday

Hello Friends! What do you think of when you hear that question? Things My Mother Taught Me? Here are some ideas I thought of:

  • “Your hands have to work as fast as your mouth.” This was said in the summer while we were shelling peas.
  • “There’s no play until the work is done.” I knew that meant if I wanted to go somewhere that night, I’d better get my summer chores done early.
  • “Play 3 or none at all.” (Chelle’s Mom) Said to Chelle and I so we would include her younger sister when we were playing together as children.
  • “If you go home hungry, it’s your own fault.” {Chelle’s Mom} If you want a second helping, you should get it.

Now let me show you the layouts our team came up with.

Christine shows us her memory of “Unconditional Love.”

Christine

She used Berry Berry Sweet.

Next Donna Fleur de Violette and a whole list of other things for her layout, “Lessons Learned.” I love the weathered wood in the background. It really works well with those pink and purple shades.

Words on Wednesday: TV Shows | Digital Scrapbooking Words

Hi Everyone!

One of the things I love the most about digital scrapbooking is the ability to add images from anywhere. Do you digi scrap your favorite TV Shows? I think it’s a really fun idea. My favorite’s are Dancing With The Stars, Law & Order: SVU, The Big Bank Theory, & Chicago Fire. How would you scrap your favs? In a list? Using the show’s logo? Maybe a photo of your favorite actor? Favorite episode(s)? Maybe by genre? Tell me what you think. Post a comment and let me know. Here are some ideas from our Creative Team. (The product images are linked up for you.)

Leah used Out of this World as a backdrop for her favorite, Star Trek.

Lists | Digital Scrapbooking Words on Wednesday

Hello Everyone!

Do you scrap with lists? I thought of a few that you might want to use for emphasis in your digital scrapbooking layouts.

  • #s
  • ABCs
  • Stars
  • Dates
  • Symbols

What about alignment?

  • Which alignment do you like the best? right, left, or center alignment?
  • Are you more of an abstract person?

What list ideas make you excited to scrap?  If it’s not exciting, your layouts will reflect it. So go for it. Create your own list and see what you end up with. To get you more excited, here a 3 layouts from our creative team to help you get a jump start. {btw, I love how different each of these layouts are.)

First Heather used Eeeeek! in her Halloween layout. She lists the reasons to get small pumpkins.

Then & Now | Digital Scrapbooking Words on Wednesday

Hello Everyone! Do you like comparison layouts? I sure do. Little kids to young adults. Before and after house renovations, you can do about anything. 2014 Valentine’s Day vs the first year you and your sweetie were together. We challenged our Creative Team to use a “Then and Now” theme to create their digital scrapbooking layouts. Let me show you what they came up with.

Jenn J (jmljensen) used In the Backyard to create this layout with her grandson. 7 years definitely shows “then and now.”

Jennifer

Next, Jenn S (jenschultz) used O Holy Night to create her Then and Now, her daughter Maddie’s transition from baby to little girl. Big sister ads her personality with a funny face.

Next, Tammy (CraftyTam) used Love Grows to show her families changes in ten years. Going from children to teenager’s certainly shows Then and Now.

Then & Now | Digital Scrapbooking Words on Wednesday

Have you created a digital scrapbooking then and now layout page? An Interview page? A layout designed to compare different periods of time? I love to look at them. They just make me smile.

There are 27 years between my older brother & younger brother. Between the boys, there are 7 girls. We have a picture of my older brother holding my younger brother. After thinking about this blog post, I’ve decided it might be really funny to do a then/now of them. Cleon is now 66 years old and Matt is 38.

When I was about 7 years old, I told Santa I wanted a set of baby size quilting frames. Why? My Mom & sisters were spending a lot of time quilting for trousseau items. I have 6 older sisters. Santa brought me lots of toys, but I didn’t “see” them, all I saw were my quilting frames. What did I want to do with them? Certainly not quilting. We (Chelle & I, and probably some of her sister’s) would spend hours playing under the quilt in our clubhouse? Or whatever we called them. Today I wish I had a picture of that Christmas or of the ladies’ around the quilt or of us kids under the quilt. Do you have a favorite hiding place that you or your kids like(d)?

  • One idea that I’ve seen is creating a layout or photo of what people looked like then vs the same photo layout today. Your family when some of the children are born vs today when all the children might be adults or teenagers.
  • Favorite foods ‘then” vs “now.”  Decades apart.
  • My family seems to take sibling photos when a family person has died. (the living people, not the dead)
  • School spirit days. All those retro hair photos, surely you have some of them.
  • High School senior pictures vs 20 year reunion photos.

I’m sure you can think of some other ideas from our creative team.  Jenn S (jennschultz) used the idea of 1-year photo of her daughter. Aren’t those goofy eyes funny?

Jenn S (jennschultz)

cc_oholynight

Jennifer (jmljensen)  created this layout. Do you have a 7-year itch layout?

I’m looking forward to see the layouts you create.
