Where To Put Journaling | Digital Scrapbooking Words on Wednesday

Hi Friends! Do you ever get to the end of making a layout and wonder where to put your story?  Here’s a few ideas from Chelle’s CT about places to put your journaling.

1.  Journal in the “empty space” around your scrapping.  If you are using PSE, you’ll just have to be creative.  If you are using PS, you can make a text path to fill the space*.  Here’s some  examples from Stephanie & Lynette.

2.  Journal on tags, labels, or strips.  If your journaling element has lines, check out our leading tutorial.  Here’s an example from Jenn M.
3.  Replace an item on your template with journaling.  See how Jenn M replaced one of the paper pieces with her journaling?
 4.  Journal in the “empty space” on a photo.  I LOVE large photos…often there is empty space on a large photo which is the perfect place for journaling.

5.  Columns.  It’s easier on our eyes to read narrow columns.  If the space you have is wide, consider doing multiple columns.  See how Karen used a narrow column in her layout?
6.  Sprinkle it around.  This one works great for list-type journaling.  See how Kristin? listed her 2 year old’s skills?

Slam Dunk | Digital Scrapbooking Classics

Chelle’s Creative Team Members have been making some great pages for you with her classic digital scrapbooking kit, Slam Dunk. It’s a versatile kit suitable for pages with a hoops theme as well as pages of many other themes.

Heather was extremely fortunate to be able to go to several 76ers games in 2001, and she got a great shot of Iverson after a game. I’m sure it didn’t hurt that she had a courtside seat! Chelle’s Slam Dunk kit is perfect for such a unique photo.sixers2001_600Heather Mary also made a page with one very special photo. I am certain her little guy will one day play basketball at least as well as Allen Iverson. Isn’t this adorable? keptoptimism-webMary Still with a basketball theme, Kairyn made a terrific double page spread with photos of her boys playing hoops at home. They show the shear joy of the little guy getting to spend time with his older brother at Thanksgiving. 2008-11-27SlamDunk-2pgKairyn And, here are the left and right pages separately for a closer look. 2008-11-27SlamDunk-LKairyn2008-11-27SlamDunk-RKairyn

Remember I said this kit is great with lots of themes? Jan proved it by using Slam Dunk to document her story about the pumpkin carving at Halloween. The details on the jack-o-lanterns is truly incredible, and the orange and black paper and elements in the kit match her photos perfectly. frightdelightJan

And, finally, do you think it’s true that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas? Well, it might if you don’t put it on a fun scrapbook page like Jennifer did. She was one of the lucky ones who spent time at Scrap Orchard’s Digiscrapapalooza a few weeks ago, and she has proven that she and her friends can sing YMCA as well as the Village People. OK, maybe not, but her page made me think they can. webYMCAJennifer Looks like so much fun!

I think the team has done a superb job showing off Slam Dunk. Makes me want to pick up my camera, take some pictures of my boys playing HORSE on our driveway, and make a great scrapbook page with this kit.

Chelle Scraps | 4.8 Happy Easter

Oh, I am so rusty! These layouts took me nearly 2 hours each. ACK! Of course I am trying to learn/practice/master clustering…and that takes me more time…let’s blame that. LOL!

This one uses Gone Fishin’, On the Water, & On the Trail

This one uses Rainbow Neutrals & Chocolate Lovers.
I had a one-sided layout that needed a partner…

This one uses primarily Techno Love (with the pink stuff recolored to blue), but the pencil is from Back 2 School & the note is from the freebie Take Note & the spills are from CU Stains & Spills & the alpha is from On the Water. Oh, and I used a template! (My odd page size makes that difficult) It’s from Fiddledeedee Designs…Stuck in the Middle. It’s from the exclusive set that is part of the e-book Topsy Turvy templates. GREAT STUFF in that ebook. You should snag it…you won’t be sorry.

This one uses Winter Thrills.
I hope you will carve out some time to scrap…& I hope it brings you happiness. I know I’m smiling :)
