Journaling with a Thesaurus | Digital Scrapbooking Resources

Hi Everyone!

Let’s talk digital scrapbooking journaling. Does your journaling seem boring? Using the same descriptive words? Is your journaling peppered with “very”, “good”, “nice”, “great”….etc? One simple way to fix that is to use a thesaurus. Tablet, IPad, Smart Phone, or Laptop, Google is our friend. Just type in synonyms for _________, and up pops a nice box telling us some alternate words we can use. Be careful about replacing too many words or replacing with complex words that don’t sound like you. But I believe you will find some replacements to make your journaling more interesting

Here are some great examples from the Creative Team, first up, Donna (djp332) She used Hole In One & Hole In One Wordart.

Leslie (lab130) She used Batter Up

Original journaling – John and I are big fans of golf. Since we no longer play, we like to go to tournaments. This Senior PGA tournament was held close by our home, at the Fox Chapel Golf Club. It had rained all week, so the course was muddy. I’m glad I decided to wear my hiking boots! We got to see a lot of our favorite golfers. We found a place to watch at the 18th hole, so we got to see Kenny Perry win, which made me sad since I wanted Fred Couples to win.

Perfect Pairs: Summertime & Batter Up | Digital Scrapbooking Kit Combinations

Hello Everyone! Today I get to show you some digital scrapbooking layouts using two of Chelle’s Kits. Last year, she created Batter Up, and earlier this year she released, “Summertime.” I love red, white & blue, and baseball is, well, baseball. I love baseball, but not everyone does. By combining these 2 kits, you can use the ellies papers, and alphas from Batter Up and have some great new pieces to add to your layouts.

Here’s a  the layout from Leah (catlady) Leah’s use of the big photos really brings her layout to life. I can just about hear the whoosh of the shuttlecock flying back and forth across the net.

Leah (Cat Lady)

Now a layout from Samantha (semantje) Samantha has used Disney’s Main Street for her layout. Love the use of the banner, the right side “border” of clusters and wonky pictures. I’m ready to climb right into the picture and head up the street to the Castle.

Batter Up | DIgital Scrapbooking Classics

It’s spring, and it’s time to talk about my favorite sport – baseball! Chelle has the perfect digital scrapbooking kit for me to use with my baseball photos, and her creative team has been busy using this kit to remind us how awesome it is. It’s called Batter Up, and it’s great for pictures at professional sporting events and little league games, too.

Jen used Batter Up to make a terrific card. Have you thought about using your digital scrapbooking goodies to make a hybrid project? Jen altered a 12×12 Chopped Paper template from Scrapping with Liz to make a birthday card for a special little guy. Look how awesome those baseballs look in the circle spots! I love that she has “All Star” in the title spot of the template. CardBaseball_zpsd3468c5eJen

Next, Brandy has made a page for her son’s book with his t-ball pictures. I really love how she has layered the peanuts, sunflower seeds, and popcorn on the chain linked fence. The realistic elements Chelle included in this kit are so helpful in setting the mood, and the “I {heart} t-ball” ribbon is perfect. (There’s also one for baseball in the kit, of course). studio-a-tball-webBrandy

Kassie has made an adorable page for us using pictures of herself when she was a child playing baseball. Her dad was the coach, and I think he is probably beaming looking at this layout. The blend of the silhouette in the background gives a nice aged touch, and I love how she used Mark My Words to show us where she is in each photo.  So cute!littleleague-1Kassie

Finally, Erica has a page for us showcasing her dad with his grandchildren at the Colorado Rockies stadium. The Rockies host a Fantasy Camp week in Arizona at their training camp, and the fans who attend get to play ball with the Rockies coaches and some of the retired players. Later on during the regular season, the Fantasy Campers are invited to a game and special tour at Coors Field. Erica’s page is about that special game night where her children got to see their grandpa play ball with the Rockies. What she doesn’t say on her page, but is pretty spectacular to note, is that her sister also sang the National Anthem for the game that night. Wow! Batter Up- by Chelle's Creations

Gallery Standouts | Digital Scrapbooking Inspiration

Hello Everyone! Wow,  do you love the new pin-style gallery at Scrap Orchard? At first I was a little timid because I’d never used a “pin,” but I quickly got the hang of it and I have a few new favorite to share. I’m excited about the GSO’s now, I see so many more layouts in the pin format. It’s sure to give us many ideas for our digital scrapbooking layouts. Let’s get started.

I absolutely adore this layout. My Kitchenaid mixer is actually the metallic (hot pink) pink one, so this really grabbed my attention.

Let me show you Chelle’s Lovin from the Oven, so you can see what a great job enjoyyourpix did. Imagine the fun you could have matching Lovin from the Oven to your kitchen decor.

Next let’s look at Wendy W’s layout, “Pink Pancakes.” Love this fun idea for a princess birthday breakfast. This LO just makes me smile all over. I can see pink adorned little girls giggling through this meal.
