Friday Freebie! Summer Lovin’ | Digital Scrapbooking Freebies

Are you gearing up for Summer at your house?  We are at mine!  May is jammed packed with all the end of the school year activities and I seem to be running kids here and there and can’t wait for Summer Vacation to start.  I long for the days of sleeping in, playing with the kids and enjoying some fresh picked strawberries.  Nothing tastes better than a handful of fresh strawberries on a lazy summer day, so I decided to whip up a little strawberry cluster using Chelle’s Creations’ Summer Lovin’ kit for today’s freebie.

Take care, eat some strawberries and of course – keepscrappin  *wink

Then & Now | Digital Scrapbooking Resources

Hello Friends! Have I got a great idea for you this week? Choose a favorite picture or layout and re-enact it.

  • You can do the same child in the same pose.
  • Ask a child the same questions year after year.
  • A young couple’s wedding photo contrasted with a picture of “today’s family.
  • A pregnant Mom holding her newborn contrasted with the newborn holding Mom
  • Here in Utah, we have Utah State University. On campus, there is a “famous” A-bench. On Homecoming Eve, if you kiss your partner on the “A”, you become a “True Aggie.” How about college sweethearts becoming “True Aggies,” contrasted with 25 years later, when they once again share the passion only a “True Aggie” can show.

Look how Helen (winipeg1) did her layout.  Isn’t her little girl adorable?

Recreate the same photo year’s later. My Nephew, Chelle’s brother, got married in 1998. The little kids were a little bored while waiting for the next activity. So they all sat down on the same bench. 15 years pass by. Why not recreate the photo’s? They are hilarious! Chelle told me they did around 12 different re-enactments. I know these teenagers and I can only imagine the laughter going on as they snapped each memory again. These layouts will become your favorite digital scrapbooking layouts of all time. They may not remember the original photo, but I bet they’ll ALL remember the reenactment.

Last is my favorite photo. Big brother Daniel is holding Baby Lincoln. Fast forward about 15 years, and Baby Lincoln is too big for Big Brother Daniel’s lap. Daniel has to use both hands to hold Lincoln.

Every time, I look at these pictures, I laugh. What could be a greater reward to a digital scrapbooking aficionado, than knowing your efforts will create smiles (and tears) for generations to come. I know you must have several ideas of how you can use this idea in your scrapbooking. Go for it!
Hugs!

Have you seen the new pin gallery? It’s amazing! I love to look at all the layouts and add a quick comment.  Of course, I get distracted looking at all the amazing digital scrapbooking layouts.

I love this idea. Who would have thought of angry bird shaped pizza? Very creative! This layout was created by Teri (ta_merkins) using Primarily Mini, Master of Disguise; Fly Little Birdie; & Mad Mad Alpha:

#cc #chelle #swl from Chelle's Creations: Primarily Minikit: http://scraporchard.com/market/primarily-digital-scrapbook-mini-kit.html ; Master of Disguise; Fly Little Birdie; Mad Mad Alpha: http://scraporchard.com/market/mad-mad-digital-scrapbook-alpha.html template from Scrapping with Liz

This digital scrapbooking layout is really awesome. While the large photo is dominant, I really love the mini pics of different photos of the Lincoln Memorial. Chelle’s History Lesson provides the alpha which creates impact and establishes importance of viewing a monument to the 14th President of the United States. This layout was created by djp332.

Is there anything more fun that Winnie the Pooh? Meejay created the fun-loving digital scrapbooking layout using Chelle’s Summer Lovin‘ collection. It almost makes we want a honeypot! Great use of a collection in an off-themed way.

Toucanscraps used Chelle’s Toadally Bundle to create her layout entitled Belgium. Love how all the bright and sunny elements help us envision her trip.

Hello Ladies! Got some great new digital scrapbooking layouts to share with you and give you ideas for layouts you might want to create. I’m getting better and going through the SO pin-style gallery. Hope you are too.
Let me start by sharing Wendy Bird’s Hybrid Bookmark. She used Chelle’s In the pocket and Rainbow Greens. Isn’t this a great idea? It’s not to soon to be thinking of teacher presents. School ends in just 3-4 months. I absolutely love the clustering. It gives such dimension, but as we know in the digi world, it’s actually completely flat.

Shari made this delightful layout about their summer fun pinata activity. The large photo of the gentleman really pulled me in. It shows that pinata’s are fun for every age. She used Primary Mini, Celebrate Bold, & Chilln & Grillin.

Perfect Pairs: Summer Lovin’ & Home Canning | Digital Scrapbooking Kit Combinations

Hello Everyone! Chelle’s Aunt Sari here. Summer is the time for jellying. I miss the fresh berries off the vine. My favorite fruit is a black cap raspberry. I remember picking them each summer at my Grandma Pearl’s. We’d get up early, probably about 6am. Put on clothes, then use a flannel shirt as a jacket. Grab a belt, a 5 quart ice cream bucket, a bandana and gloves. We used just about anything to protect us from the thorns on those black cap vines. It didn’t matter how careful you were, you always came home with scratches in places you didn’t realize those thorns could get to. LOL!  Into Grandma’s house to give her the new harvest. She’d have her juicer/steamer on the stove, with the berries reducing to a liquid which slowly drained into another pan. That liquid is a very intensely flavored syrup which we then used to make jelly. It’s a hot job performed in hot weather, as the steamy room is perfumed with the steam of fruited syrups. I highly recommend central air. LOL Again!

They creative team has used Chelle’s Summer Lovin, Summer Lovin’ Ginghams & Home Canning Mini kits.

6.16 Summer Lovin’ Playdate

Hello Friends! “Oh, what do you do in the summertime, when all the world is green. Do you fish in a stream, or lazily dream on the banks as the clouds go by? Is that what you do? So do I.” (Sing along if you know the tune.) Wouldn’t it be great if life did slow down just a bit and let us enjoy summer? Chelle’s Summer Lovin’ kit really draws my mind towards the years before the technology explosion changed all our lives. I don’t remember selling lemonade or kool-aid, we lived in too rural an area for that to work. One of our summer treats was called Banana Crush. (See Chelle’s post @ ScrapOrchard for the recipe) We always looked forward to having Banana Crush on Sunday nights. Of course as the teenage girl’s Chelle and I often “scooped and poured” while her younger sister’s served. Everyone had a second serving.
Chelle really made a beautiful, sentimental Summer Lovin’ Kit. The nostalgic bicycle, little red wagon and pinwheel are certain too be used many times. Then for fun, she also gives us Summer Lovin’ gingham papers that really add a peaceful nostalgia to the designs you’ll create. Don’t forget to download the blog freebie!
For those of you wanting something a bit more challenging, take a look at Chelle’s CU Breezy Alpha Doodles.  Why not stretch your skills and give Chelle’s Alpha Doodles a try. Isn’t the green one with the stitches down the center the cutest ever?

One of Chelle’s unique talents is her desire to share her knowledge with others. She created her YouTube Channel for this purpose and creates mini video classes to help you learn. This week her class was on making it easier to see the layers in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. Check out the video to learn some tricks. She has 29 different videos.

Want MORE? Here are the designs from Chelle’s Creative Team. Don’t miss out on Roxana’s LO, it was my fav for the week. Plus I learned something. I didn’t know those cars were called “Plasma” cars.  See you next week!

6.11 Sneaky Peek – Summer Lovin’

Hello everyone! I’m here today to give you sneak peek at what Chelle has coming out this week. I love the vintage feel of this kit. I remember summer bike rides. We didn’t ever have a lemonade stand. Hard to sell lemonade when you live in a rural area. But I do remember fund raisers for Girls Camp at the local farm store.  There was always traffic there. Be sure to check back on Thursday for the full reveal.

You can enter to win this kit in any or all of these ways:
1. Comment on this blog post.
2. Like this Facebook post. Or post about the sneak on your own wall and link it to this blog post.
3. Tweet about the contest.
Remember, since the winner is chosen using a random number generator, be sure to come back and post when you’ve done #2 & #3 each in their own comment.
