ACK!  Vacations…family visiting…it’s been a busy month.  I’m still trying to finish that 2009 album.  Here’s the only layout I’ve finished in the past two weeks:

I had a hard time with this one.  I wanted to use that FABULOUS brick…I loved it so much I took 4 or 5 photos of the brick wall outside the magazine.  LOL!   But my words weren’t readable.  If you look super closely, I added a fill layer behind each block of text.  Here’s how I did it:
With the marquee tool (the square selection tool) make a box that extends about a half an inch outside your text.  Under selection choose feather and pick a number around 200.  Then choose add fill layer.  It’ll add a box with fuzzy edges behind your text.  Pick a color that is prominent in your background.  I just clicked around with the color picker until the color seemed to blend in.  Then lower the opacity ’til it is barely noticeable, but helps your text be readable.  I use this trick whenever my text is on patterned paper.
Another journaling tip I used on this page — use someone else’s words.  I copied the text from the Colonial Willamsburg website info about this building and used that for some of my text.
Hopefully next time I’ll have several more layouts to share –the LAST of the 2009 yearbook.
