Chelle Scraps 7.17.11

More layouts to share with you. I’ve been waiting to scrap on the water photos since LAST summer (when I didn’t have time to finish the water kit) So I had fun using it this past week.

My girls were so excited when they saw the orange life vests & green canoe because they knew those were the colors in their pictures from girls camp.

Why do I let my girls take my camera out on the lake? Because the camera is waterproof. This has been one of our best investments! It’s an Olympus Stylus Tough 6000. It’s waterproof to 10 feet. We’ve taken it every WET that we go from snorkeling in Hawaii to the hot tub in the backyard. It’s a 10 megapixel camera, and the quality is really nice.
I’ve actually bought 2 of them, so I do have some advice: it has a nice long metal “hand strap” — plenty big to hang around your neck…but apparently it also slips off when you are swimming (or maybe it’s just lost in the backseat of the neighbor’s car…) ANYWAY, I added a caribiner (that metal rock climbing hook) to the strap. Our rule is: If you are taking the camera, you have to have that clipped to your swimsuit…and you can still hang the strap around your neck.  I love being able to capture our WET fun without getting my nice camera ANYWHERE near the water.

Chelle Scraps

Really I do…so from time to time I plan to share with you what I’ve scrapped recently:

I’ve nearly finished the 2009 yearbook…I needed the Vrooom! kit to do it. LOL!

I’m kinda stuck on blends right now to use poor quality photos. The lighting in my parents living room is really bad…and even with a flash it was grainy & almost fuzzy…but a blend will fix that.

It’s always hard to get good photos at a school program. ARG!

I struggle with scrapping this tradition every year…I think the theme/focus is on burning all the papers at the end of the school year, so FIRE/BURN. Which to me means the colors should be red/orange/yellow. But in the spring the canyon is always so green…this year i went with green and doodles and I like how it turned out.
This one makes me laugh:

She HATES that big photo…but I swapped them out and she decided it did look best. But it reminds me so much of her. She LOVES chocolate and strawberries…much too much to bother with getting out the chocolate fountain. Every day, yes EVERY day that we can get strawberries, she warms up some chocolate in the microwave and indulges in her favorite treat. She’s even taken to begging for Dove chocolate to melt. LOL!
So…why do I scrap this odd size?  12″ book don’t fit on most shelves (not that I don’t have plenty of 12″ paper scrapbooks) So when I started printing hardbound books, I went with 8.5×11.  But I’ve found I love the horizontal format.  So each “layout” is a double page spread:  8.5×22.
That’s it for this week.
