Then & Now Tips | DIgital Scrapbooking Resources

Hello Friends! One of the greatest things about digi scrapbooking is our ability to look back at earlier photos/LOs and compare them. Sometimes it’s our skills that have changed. Other times it’s the “same” picture but taken weeks, months or even year’s later. This week we have 4 LOs to show you. First, Lynett shows us her slim and sleek new “bod” she’s been working on. Way to go Lynett, you’ll have that extra 20 pounds lost in no time. (She used Toadally & Toadally Add On. Toadally will be available in SO Market in July.)Next we have Jan, she posted, “It was fun to look through the slides Dad had taken of our family trip to Sequoia National Park back in 1968. Mostly because we had just been there again this year, but also because there were quite a few photos the two of us had taken that were almost the same. What was amazing was comparing Dad’s photo of the Crescent Meadow to one I had just taken and seeing how little the scene had changed in 44 years.” Sari says, I love that WONKY tree in the background. Can’t believe it still looked the same! Jan used an jaw-dropping 10 kits in this layout. (On The Trail, On The Water, Let’s Camp S’more, Make A Splash, Hole In One, Forrest Friends, Wet Paint Alpha, Rainbow Greens & Neutrals, & Toadally.) Play a game with yourself, Guess which kit each item in the LO belong iJenn S shows us how much a new ‘do’ changes things. Her daughter, Lacey, looks so much older with the darker do. She meshed the Rainbow Pinks & Neutrals to emphasize her daughter and her hair. Love all the cluster work! Especially that sweet little tag at the top.Last we have Man’s Best Friend from Patty showing us how much her dog had changed in 3 years. I have to confess, I kept trying to read her journaling. I finally zoomed in enough to realize it was in another language and even if I had “readers” on, I wasn’t going to be able to translate it. LOL! She used Fetch, Toadally, Toadally Add-On, & Wet Paint Alpha.Sure hope these ladies’ LOs have inspired you. Take this scraportunity to add some “then and now” to your designs.

5.2 Scrap Skills: Using Banners

I love banners, don’t you? For me, they evoke feelings of celebration and joy and accomplishment because in real life, I see banners at birthday parties, holiday celebrations, and even at the finish line of every race. Lots of Chelle’s digital scrapbooking kits come with banners in them, and Chelle even has a couple of kits available here and here to make your own banners from papers you already own. Today, Chelle’s Creative Team members want to show you some ways to use banners on your pages and creative ways to make your own banners.

First, Heather made a double page layout of her experience seeing Michelle Kwan inducted into the Hall of Fame. Notice how the banner is used on the right half of the layout to hold part of the title letters, and the banner shadowing is so realistic it appears to pop off the page.

Next, Patty used the banner in Chelle’s brand new Hole In One Collection to help frame the entire page for her photos of her favorite guys at the driving range.  Patty-HoleInOneBundle Mary also used the same kit, but she used only one banner pennant for a journal spot to include the date on her layout. It highlights the date, and that is sometimes the most difficult thing to place on a page. minigolf2Mary Next, JennS used tickets from the Ticket to Ride kit and some stitches to make a banner across the bottom of her page in a border fashion. It is the perfect complement to her page. rockbottomplungeJennS Finally, Jennifer also made a banner from stitches, but then she used word strips instead of banner pennants. It’s an original way to make the journaling fun to read, don’t you think?  web_fun-in-the-snowJennifer Now that I’ve seen these awesome ideas from the team, I am inspired to use a banner on my next page, and if my kit doesn’t have a banner, I see there are many ways to make them and bring a fun and unique look to my creations.

5.1 Perfect Pairs: Grandpa’s Garden & Gnome Sweet Gnome | Digital Scrapbooking Kit Combinations

Hi everyone! Chelle’s Aunt Sari here. Today we are looking at some LO using the perfect pairs of Grandpa’s Garden Bundle & Gnome Sweet Gnome Bundle.  Let’s start with Mary (plum dumpling) and her backyard renovation. What a great transformation. Look how well the pictures show the improvements. I bet she’s sure glad all this work is done! You’d never know this LO was done with 2 different bundles.Erica’s provides some great pictures of her Dad and son. Her Dad used the same tractor when he was young and quickly jumped on. Everett wasn’t far behind his Grandpa; both enjoyed his explanation of what each gear was for. Last Carol provides us with a glimpse of her husband’s garden in Washington state compared to what he grew in Iowa. Love the use of white space and circles. Carol combined “real” veggies with Chelle’s “designed” veggies.  I also love the “Gnome” poking out.

And here’s a look at the products they used from Chelle’s store: Hope these great ideas have your just itchin’ to dig up a few LO in Grandpa’s Garden and color them with Gnome Sweet Gnome.
