Conversations | Digital Scrapbooking Words On Wednesday

Hey Everyone! I hope you are up to your eyeballs in preparation for the 4th of July holiday here in America. Wherever you are in the world, I hope you are celebrating, scrapping & participating in Iron Scrapper at Scrap Orchard. It’s Wednesday and I wanted to talk about conversations. Recording your conversations in your digital scrapbooking layouts have the potential to be some of your favorite layouts. Conversations between your children and grandparents, children about current events, conversations about the end of the school year, or just things you find amusing. I was talking to Chelle’s Mom on the phone just last night and we both agreed that we were missing out on some of those conversations we could have had with our now deceased parents.

So here goes: a Movie, an Owie, & a Mohawk! Let me show you what the CT team came up with.

Mel (KSCroppyChic) shares a great conversation she had with her daughter, Teanna. Mel used Chalked {Boards}Chalked {School Alpha}  Rainbow Collection {Reds, Golds, & Neutrals,} & Now Showing {Banners & Felties.}Melissa (kscroppychic) She used Now Showing Felties & Banners

Next we have a funny conversation that Jenny (Jenn18) recorded with her little one. She used Get Well Soon & GWS Wort Art. How funny! “No more pictures, my knee hurts so bad!”
Jenny (jenn18) She used Get Well Soon & GWS Wort Art

Our last layout comes from Jenn J (jmljensen) using Oh! Snap.  She gives us one of those funny “Kids say the darnedest things” layouts.  You’ve got to love a kid with that much confidence!

Looking forward to seeing your conversation layouts in the pin gallery at Scrap Orchard. We’ll chat again soon!

Unlikely Pairs: Home for the Holidays & Oh Snap! | Digital Scrapbooking Kit Combinations

Hello Ladies!  Oh my gosh! I have some wonderfully inspiring digital scrapbooking layouts to show you from our creative team. We’re combining 2 of Chelle’s Kits. Home for the Holidays Bundle & Oh Snap! These ideas just capture the holiday season! I linked you up with the market down below.

Isn’t Jan’s title work wonderful. I love that phrase. “Hearts Come Home For Christmas!” That’s a “scrapliftable” phrase if ever I’ve heard one. Play a game with yourself. Can you find the items in Jan’s LO that came from Oh Snap? It took me a minute or two.

Jan (quiltymom)

Did you see that cute little brad that Heather used in her flower clusters? Love Heather’s use of the paper that makes me think of candy canes. Doesn’t that camera just fit right into her layout? Bet you’ll find a use for the (4) camera’s in Oh Snap! in your seasonal layouts.

Heather (snowdrop)

Mel used Santa, Rudolph, glitter splats, poinsettias, & Holiday Stitched-A-Bet in combination with Santa’s camera. He must be looking for who has been naughty or nice. Quentin’s face sure makes me wonder? I bet you could make a fab-u-lous Christmas newsletter with this LO. Scraplift away!

Mel N (KSCroppyChic)

Perfect Pairs: Family Tree & Oh Snap! | Digital Scrapbooking Kit Combinations

Hi Ladies! Family Tree & Oh Snap! What a great combination! I was thinking about digi and how much easier it is to store & add names to pictures. Then I stared thinking about ancestors & pictures. When my Pitcher Grandparent’s (Chelle’s Great Grandparents) had their 50th wedding anniversary party, our family worked hard on the gift. A Family Tree quilt with each family member’s name hand-embroidered on it. It was a beautiful masterpiece and they loved it. My Mom’s brother had 5 children and Mom’s sister had 5 children. They used about 1/3 of the quilt. The other 2/3 went to Mom’s family. My parent’s had 9 children and 13 grandchildren at the time of the 50th party. To give some perspective, Grandma was 60 year’s old when I was born and 61 when Chelle was born.

Grandma & Grandpa loved to dance. They met at a dance. Grandpa said he “fell in love at first sight.” Grandma said, “if he was gonna take her out, then he’d better learn to dance.” Grandma so graceful and she floated along as they danced ballroom. Later in their year’s they hooked up with a square dance club. At their anniversary party, they were sort of sad because none of their dancing friends had shown up. Just at the end of the party, in walked all the square-dance club members, fully decked out and ready to go. They left Grandma and Grandpa their traditional spot in their square of 4 as they promenaded in. Grandma & Grandpa jumped up and joined right in. The square-dance caller had even changed his lyrics to be all about “Mel & Mon.” Grandma was 72 & Grandpa 71 at the time. This picture was taken a couple of year’s later and is my favorite picture of them square-dancing together.

Now for some inspiration from the Creative Team.

Jenn J (jmljensen) used Beep Beep Boop Beep Template by SWL also. Jenn’s blocking is done so well. I love the string flower hidden behind her yellow flower.

Kassie (kass_23) Look at how well Kassie has tied her background in with Grandma’s dress? Love the cluster’s and the journaling about her baby liking her own voice all mic’d up.

Carol (Iowan) Carol’s LO is just wonderful! I love all the cluster’s! What a great way to use “faded” as an indicator of the time that has passed.

Chelle’s Products in the Market are all linked up for you!

Hope I gave you some perspective on LO’s you could create using these 2 perfect pairs! Hugs!

Words on Wednesday: Sayings | Digital Scrapbooking Tips

Hi Fellow Scrappers!  Does your family have a favorite saying…maybe it’s a movie quote…or a phrase from an inside joke. Those sayings make great words for your scrapbooks. Sayings… boy, my family has a bunch of them. I can only think of a few of them, but I know we have/had a zillion of ’em.”

  • “Were you born in a barn?” (question asked when someone didn’t shut the entrance door to the house. Usually on Sunday night’s as my Mom & Dad’s. Culprits were usually the grandkids racing out the door to play.)
  • “You make a better door than a window!” (asked when someone crossed in front of the TV and blocked their vision.)
  • “Live or Die. It’s up to you.” (said by Grandma Pitcher when she transplanted something)
  • “Those potatoes are so creamy!” (said to change the subject. Quote from the movie While You Were Sleeping)
  • “That must have happened while I was in the mission field!” (of my father’s 9 children, 5 daughters and 2 son’s have served mission’s for our church! )  Said whenever someone brought up a memory you had no idea what they were talking about. It didn’t have to happen during the actual mission, it could be yesterday, but we would always that. It eventually morphed in “Mission Memory! Also funny because they were actually non-mission memories! LOL
  • Too many accessories clutter an outfit!” (said when commenting about someone’s outfit or jewelry. Quote from the movie Troop Beverly Hills”)
  • “Green means go in Utah!” (said to any driver who doesn’t drive as fast through the intersection as we might have liked.)
  • Stupid Announcer Comment! (said when watching sports and the play by play guys makes an absolutely ridiculously statement!)
  • Chelle’s Dad says, “Because it’s colder in the mountains than in the spring!” I find this one funny because I’ve never heard him say it.
  • Another I remember him saying was “Act, Not React!”

More recently I will say:

  • Dude! Really?
  • Seriously? That’s what your going with!”

Think about the phrases that you and your family use.  Then scrap about it!   Let me show you what the CT Members created (links to the products are in the caption under the photo):

Melissa N. (KSCroppyChic) shared what she found out after polling her friends and family.”I polled my family on what I say most. Come to find out, it was unanimous among the 4 of them. It’s not so much a saying as a word, so I asked my sister, my mom and 2 best friends and again unanimous. I was struggling with this topic for some reason so I decided to go with a word more than a saying, hope it works. On the other hand, I think I need to find something else to say! Seriously! LOL” Here’s her LO.

Mel N (KSCroppyChic) Mel used Apple of my Eye and Fill-Me-In-Bundle

Nee Nee (neenee) She used Ladybug Hugs!

Ophelia (navaja77) She used Rainbow Collection, Oh Snap! & Fill Me In {Marker}

Hope this post gives you lots of great ideas.
Hugs!

Perfect Pairs: Oh Snap! & Main Street | Digital Scrapbooking Kit Combinations

Hello Everyone! This week we challenged the CT members to combine 2 of Chelle’s kits: Oh Snap! & Main Street Kits. Let me show you the kits first, and then I’ll show you the LOs.

First up is Melissa N who shows us “Changes.” Love the then and now of her children at the same location, several years apart, and the clusters she built are just perfect!

Next we have Lynette who uses shows us the main street at one of her travel destinations on her cruise. I bet we all have photos that we could scrap in a similar fashion. A cityscape if you will.

In our final LO, Carol shows us the Main Street where she used to live in Iowa. What a great idea! Each of us memories where we used to live. Carol’s LO made me think of main street’s in ghost towns, pioneer villages, or even restored main streets. We’ve got a picture of several of my grandparent’s and great-grandparents pioneer homes. Some have been renovated and we could do similar LOs like Carol’s.

Hope these inspire you to use Main Street Mini and the Traveler Bundle for some of your LO’s.

Hugs!

8.15 Words On Wednesday: Then & Now | Digital Scrapbooking Words on Wednesday

Howdy! This month one of the challenges we gave the creative team was to create a then and now LO. I missed out on a perfect photo opportunity this last week. My little nephew Zion (age 2 1/2) got home from church and everyone went to change… except Zion. My brother rounded the corner into the kitchen just in time to catch Zion poking his finger in the last roll and deflating it. He saw his Dad and grinned from ear to ear and said, “I did it! I did it!” He was so proud of himself. I can never resist the “I’m-So-Cute-A-Boy-Smile.” His Mom makes rolls of some sort 3 of 4 times a week… so I’m sure he has wanted to “do it” before. He didn’t even get in trouble, they just all laughed. They did have dinner a little late…. after the rolls had a chance to rise again. LOL! Aunts who are 3 hours away don’t usually get “those” pictures. I wanted to share the idea because it was fun! A pan of “before” and “after” rolls with a cute little blonde-haired boy. What ideas do you think of with a then & now theme?
The ladies amazed me again. First up is Kassie showing us a delightful LO of her two girl’s wearing the same dress about 3 years apart. Polka dots make everyone smile & that headband is sooo darn cute. It’s a very simple design with great white spacing,  and the journaling is sweet. It’s a lovely timeless design. Makes me wonder if she’ll keep the dress and do the layout again with her first granddaughter. I just want to pick them up off the page and hugs those little darlings! Love the stitching!

Kassie

Next up is Kayla. I love this idea. One of my niece-in-law’s wanted to decorate her home with pictures of her grandparents and my grandparent’s homes and some of the homes my family lived in before I was born. My sister, Arlene, took pictures of the houses (some while she was in high school) and a fellow elementary teacher painted the houses. (Arlene bought a photocopy of the paintings so that her siblings could each have those pictures. Chelle might have them too.) My Grandma Pitcher had a pink house, My Grandma Griffin’s was white. The home I grew up in was white with green trim. Now that all of the houses have changed ownership and colors, it’s nice to walk around my apartment and see those images from my childhood and youth. Look at what Kayla designed.

Kayla

I saw a story on the TODAY show just this morning about a group of 5 guys who took a picture of themselves in high school. Somewhere along the passage of years, they kept re-enacting that picture and updating it. They have redone that same picture several times through the years. I believe they do it ever 5 years. Shannon has one of her favorite pictures of her girls from 7 years ago and then a more recent picture. What a wonderful way to update and compare her girl’s. I’m sure this design will be a favorite of her girl’s for many years to come.

Shannon

Heather used the ivy growth as a marker for the passage of time at a baseball stadium since it opened in 2004. I think we all use pictures or something physical to help us mark the highlights of our lives. How many of us have a wall where we have pencil lines showing a child’s name and date marking the passage of time and growth?

Heather

Let me give you a wrap-up of the products the ladies used.

Hope we gave you lots of ideas for Then & Now.
Hugs!
