10.16.15 Friday Freebie! Military Clusters!! | Digital Scrapbooking FREEBIES

Hello Friends!

It’s time for another Friday Freebie! Jenn J made us digital scrapbooking cluster flowers using Chelle’s 3 military kits. Wide Blue Yonder (Air Force), Rolling Along (Army) & Anchors Aweigh (Navy). I love to see Jenn’s freebies this time of year because I know she will do something military for our digital scrapbooking layouts for Veteran’s Day here in the US. I am so grateful for our military and the service they provide.

Here’s the FREEBIE!

10.15.15 Love This Photo Fix | Digital Scrapbooking Tips & Tutorials

Hello Friends!

One of Chelle’s favorite photo fixes is adding a white border around her photos. It can really help emphasize your photos. She uses the white border trick a lot. We challenged Donna & Jenn J to use a white border around some photos in their layouts, but to show us a before and a after photo.

Donna used Choose the Right {Trek} in her layouts. The pictures really stand out with the white border, huh?

Now let’s look at Jenn J’s layouts. She used Prehistoric & About A Boy.

Hope you have a great day!

10.14.2015 Stories With No Photos | Digital Scrapbooking Words on Wednesdays

Hello Friends!

Do you ever have a digital scrapbooking layout that doesn’t have much journaling because the story – is actually the writing of the story? Our creative team has so they made a couple of layouts to share with you. Jenny used the letter “K” for a layout about her son’s kindergarten school year.

Kayla gave us all the drama and panic of a sliced of thumb and a trip to the InstaCare/Emergency Room.

Kayla

Just in case she included the story.

It was a typical summer day at the Chamberlain house. Chase and Aspen had the Griffiths boys over and were playing. I was cleaning the sink and Megan was playing at the kitchen table. Out of the blue I heard a loud crash and Megan screaming. She had stood up on the chair and had tipped it over backwards. I rushed over to her and could see that she had blood gushing from her finger. I knew that she needed immediate medical attention. I hollered for the big kids to come help me. We wrapped Megan’s hand in a towel and loaded her in my van. I sent Aspen and the Griffiths boys back over to their house to let Heidi know that I was on my way to the InstaCare. Chase volunteered to go with me and put pressure on Megan’s hand. He was such a brave brother and consoled her and cared for her the whole ride.

The nurses took us right to the trauma room when we got to the InstaCare and that’s when the reality of what was happening hit me. I had brought a 9 year old Chase with me to a bloody trauma! Megan had actually cut off the tip of her left middle finger! I hadn’t realized that a small portion of her finger tip had been cut off by the back of the chair. I had thought only her finger nail had been pulled off. Rob wasn’t answering his cell phone. He had just started a new job and was up in Park City for meetings. I couldn’t get a hold of Grandma Judy, so I called Aunt Natalie to have her come get Chase. And I didn’t have the finger tip so the doctor could sew it back on. Boy was I a mess!

I quickly called Heidi and asked her to go over to my house and see if she could find the finger tip. Aspen found it and I sent Aunt Natalie to go get it and bring it back to the doctor. The doctor was able to sew it back on, but warned us that it might not take and there was no guarantee if the nail would grow back either. A small portion of it didn’t take under the nail. But enough did and the nail grew back so it’s not too noticeable. It just looks like her nail is a little flat on that finger. We call it her poor sore finger because it’s very sensitive and hurts her at times.

– August 2007

Kayla used Doctor’s Orders.

Whether you have photos or not, these 2 layouts gave us plenty of ideas of how to do a photoless layout.

Enjoy!

10.13.15 Teacher’s Pet

Today I want to feature Kimberly, a member of Chelle’s Creations CT who was a devoted customer even before she joined Chelle’s team. One thing that was always important to her was how useful the kit was for her. Being able to USE the kit is extremely important. Teacher’s Pet is right up her ally. When asked to submit a layout for this blog post, she gave me five layouts! That’s one of the best things about Chelle’s Creations. Her kits are easily mixable and matchable and can be used over and over again.

Take a look at what Kimberly created with this one kit. She has First Day of School pictures, Kindergarten, and even a high school picture all scrapped with Teacher’s Pet. I love how she leans toward the orange papers and elements in the kit. Take a close look, and see if you can find all the ways she used chalk on her pages.

You can find the basic kit here, but don’t miss the bundle. It includes the journal cards that are so very useful on a variety of pages, and a special block letter alpha.

10.12.2015 Yes YOU Are Photogenic | Digital Scrapbooking Resources

Hey Friends!  This month I challenged our creative team to do a digital scrapbooking layout showing how photogenic they are. To put themselves in the photo.  I referred them to a local show here in Utah called “Studio 5,” and a segment called, “Yes, YOU are photogenic.” I’ve linked it up for you if you want to take a look. Local photographer Kate Pease gave some great examples of how to take the photo so that you look your best.

First let me show you what Roxana did as her before and her after. In the first one she thought it made her look “wider.” In the second, she changed position by crossed her arm and rotating the photo a bit. She felt like she now looked “thinner.” Roxana used Fleur de Violette.

Roxana orig   Roxana fix

Another suggestion from Studio 5 was to include photos of yourself straight on and turned to your side. Let me show you Carol’s layout that she made using this principle. Carol used In the Forest & Great Outdoors.

Carol

Take a minute and check out the Studio 5 Blog, “Yes, YOU Are Photogenic.” I think it will provide some good tips and I can’t wait to see if that shows up in your layouts!

Hugs!
